Melissa Shimizu
Student Counsellor · Pro-Bono Sessions
Accepting ClientsMelissa Shimizu is a counselling practicum student completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, on the path toward becoming a Registered Clinical Counsellor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University and offers pro-bono counselling by telehealth across British Columbia.
She brings both education and lived experience to her practice, with firsthand understanding of stress, burnout, anxiety, and the challenge of work-life balance. As a mother of two, she knows how quickly competing work and family responsibilities can become overwhelming.
Her approach is humanistic, person-centred, and strengths-based, grounded in the belief that people can grow and heal in the right conditions. She offers a warm, non-judgmental space, drawing on solution-focused strategies to support practical, goal-oriented change toward greater balance, resilience, and a stronger sense of control.
